Pre-School
Our state-funded program serves four-year-old children living in the district and students who are outside of the district. We are able to serve 40 students, with both a morning and afternoon class. The morning class is from 8-11 and the afternoon class is from 12-3. Both classes are held Monday-Thursday.
We were among the first group of school districts to receive the four-year-old preschool grant. We are proud to be able to offer free preschool for any student who turns four by September 15th during the present school year.
Our daily activities include working with math manipulatives, letter identification and sounds, beginning writing instruction, social skill development and play based learning. We use Creative Curriculum to guide our lessons and assessments. We follow the 50 goals of Creative Curriculum to look at each child as a whole. We assess them over physical, social/emotional, cognitive, and language development. We also collaborate with the Kindergarten team to align our curriculum, with their expectations for students.
The home-school connection is an important aspect of our program. We use weekly newsletters, quarterly report cards, family night, conferences twice a year, and a home visit to help establish that relationship. If you are interested in this program please contact Jennifer Van Amerongen for more information. Registration flyers for the following preschool year will be collected in March.
